Thomas PAUL
« on: Saturday 03 March 12 22:36 GMT (UK) »
Marriage to Violet May Barber at Windsor,Hants County 27th October 1913
Father, James [Carpenter of Bonavista] Mother, Mary
Thomas age given as 24yrs making Birth approx 1889.
I have found Thomas Paul 1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and ALberta residence Weyburn Saskatchewan.
Would anyone be able to look at this entry please.
Previously the only Thomas birth found was 24 Feb 1886 Bonavista.
Violet came back to England 1916 pregnant saying Thomas had died crushed between icefloats while  seal fishing near St Johns ,I believe. No death record has been found for him around that time so I am beginning to wonder if she came home as she couldn't cope with the extreme weather and living conditions perhaps!
I also found a will of Hannah Brown ,Widow of Bonavista,Probate year 1922 7th bequeath was to Thomas Paul my little garden near Thomas Paul's dwelling I know I appear to be clutching at straws but the only record I have seen was a picture of Thomas Paul that my father-in-law showed me some years ago. The likeness was uncanny both George[my now dec'd father-in-law, my husband and my son are so like him!!!
George by the way was the unborn child of Violets.

The Thomas Paul in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on the 1916 census was 27, single and born in the US. He was head of household with his brother (Joseph, 20, born US) and mother (Mary, 50, born England). They emigrated to Canada in 1910 and the brothers became citizens in 1913.

Thank you for the information, it doesn't appear he is connected, but it was worth a try!

You may know that NFLD was not part of Canada until the middle of the previous century? We haven't a lot of info available...  the story of seal fishing is a match to the Maritimes coastal waters New Brunswick Scotia has a St. John whereas NFLD  is St. John's.
Not unusual for people to fib about ages on documents back then ...was the birth to a James & Mary?
Did you check out this NFLD. will from 1940? http://ngb.chebucto.org/Wills/nfwillsp.shtml

ack, you already have a posting on him??...Please do not post several threads on the same subject!
You didn't even give credit to the people on rootschat who found the earlier information for you.....
The marriage & birth were found by rootschatters...

If you want to find an original post, just use the surname in the search above, and your username Shellmex
While I understand you want information, this gets you no further ahead....a few moments of your time can save hours of hunting and wasted work.

I'm sorry did not mean to offend anyone,  when I asked if any one could look at the census details it did not occurr to me that it would cause a problem. Thank you for pointing out how to get back to my original posting , I did  have the original information of marriage as I had stated but it was the difference in age that sent me on to try and see if another Thomas Paul could be found.
Once again thanks to all who have helped and as I have no further information to confirm or discount him it looks like the end of the line.
