Can you date "Eva" please?
« on: Sunday 04 March 12 17:46 GMT (UK) »
I've been sent this photo, with a copy of the reverse.  The labeling on the back may have been helpful when written but is now hopelessly ambiguous as the Mum and Grandmother referred to are long gone.  Hill and Wakeling in Plymouth were active from the 1880s to about 1938 so not sure whether that is helpful or not.  Any clues as to date to help identify little Eva please?

... and this I think is the same little girl in nurses uniform with her husband.  Any clues here?

Could be her....children are hard to date because their clothing didn't change rapidly and in the days of large families an article of clothing could be in use for 20 years or more. Only clue is the cardstock and the back. The back is unusual but probably late 1890s.

The second one is a postcard with a divided back which makes it after 1902, and because of the wording on it, after 1907. The image doesn't go all the way to the edges of the card so probably late war or early 1920s. So it could be her.

Cheers,
China

Thanks China.  That fits in nicely with what we know for sure, and what we suspect.
