1841 Census Wrexham- Benjamin Jones
« on: Wednesday 07 March 12 21:29 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please lookup the 1841 Census for Wrexham for the following details:
Benjamin Jones about 62 years old, living at Brook Street Wrexham and probably listed as a Shoemaker.

Many Thanks
Megan

Hi

Where did you get those details from as there is no entry showing up on the 1841

Thank you for such a quick reply.

Benjamin Jones is listed in the Wrexham Parish burials for 17th September, 1842 with an address of Brook Street.

I think he might be the father of Susannah Williams (formerly Jones) who is listed at Brook Street in the 1841 Census with her husband John Williams and daughter Anne.

Could you also check if there is an entry for John Jones in Brook Street (possible brother to Susannah and son of Benjamin who is listed at Brook Street in 1851 Census).  John's wife is Ann and there should be a son John and possible another son Edward (b. 1841) in 1841.

Many Thanks

Hi

Those of us with ancestors from the area are sadly only too  aware that 1841 census is missing for the  Wrexham area. However, the two Wrexham Town district enumerator books have been found and  have been produced in booklet form by Clwyd FHS.

Available here:

Scroll down to miscellaneous publications

I have a subscription to findmypast.co.uk but the 1841 Census for Wrexham is not online as most of it was lost.  I have posted here before to ask someone to lookup the few off-line records that exist.  That's how I found out about John and Susannah Williams.

I know some members do have copies but they are also available in Wrexham Borough archives:

Maybe someone from the Wrexham area might be able to check them for you. I won't be there until later in the year.

I may have to order the books from the Clwyd FHS as I don't live in the UK.  I have ordered copies of parish registers from them before and they arrived very quickly.

I've just found a thread where someone did get a look up:

So if it's just a one -off , maybe you could PM the member who did the look up (Llosgi Calch) to see if they could help
