Hi everyone, looking for James Brutnall b abt 1819 died abt 1874 Leicester.  He marr Jane Fitzgerald.  He was a gunner in the Royal Artillery and spent some time in Port Guernsey where their 2nd child James was born 02.01.1858 in St Peters.  They had 8 children in all.  Any help greatfully appreciated.

Hi this may or may not be helpful. Leate is not a very common name. I am christian leate, My father is adrian leate, his father was claude (peter) leate.

As far as I am aware my grandfather had 6 brothers and live in the west country for a while in england.

Hi mrbongo, nice to hear from you.  Here's what I have on my Leate family - Elizabeth Leate b 1818 or 1819 Stonehouse, Plymouth, Devon, died in Melbourne [Oz] Dec 1880.  Elizabeth married 1837 in St Germans, Cornwall to Matthew Hole b 1815 Cookbury, Devon.
Elizabeth's parents were William Leate b abt 1793 Plymouth, died 1866 Langtree, Devon mar 1815 Plymouth St Andrew to Mary Rowland.
Elizabeth was one of 6 children.  Apparently William married for a second time to a Rebecca who was born abt 1824 and they had one daughter [don't know what happened to the first wife].  William was also a drum major in the Royal Marines.
That's pretty much all I have on the Leate clan.  I have not come across any of the christian names you've mentioned but who knows!!!  Maybe some of this info will be familiar.
