Can anyone identify these Uniforms?
« on: Friday 09 March 12 10:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help identify these two photos that I have recently received. I believe the one on the right is my Great Uncle, Robert Bailey.  The one on the left not a clue.   Hopefully if I knew what the uniforms were it would help to find out who they really are .

The photos came from Northern Ireland, if that helps.

Regards

Richard

Left one looks like the 'Globe and Laurel' of the Royal Marines  and the other one is the Australain Imperial Forces.

On the left Royal Marines, on the right Australian Army  :)
There are records online for both if you have possible names.

Damn, beaten to it!
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

The Aussie is either 57th or 58th bn, 5th Australian Div

And neither are Boer War I'm afraid....Both WW1 (give or take with the RM)
One more charge and then be dumb,

May the victors when they come

Hi Fellas

Fantastic response in such a short time. Thank you.

I have just emailed a cousin in Australia, this must be her Grandfather Alfred Leonard Smith (1895-1965)

The Royal Marines, I have not a clue on that one, not yet anyway

Once again a BIG thank you

If it helps:
For the pics, as you enlarge the photos you can see the photographers imprint, I can only make out Belfast at the moment and may be Donegal Place.
Imprint to lower right near hem of ladys' dress, obscured by hem, and to lower right of Australian soldiers left foot.
