Death cert help
« on: Thursday 15 March 12 19:44 GMT (UK) »
There is a family story that one of my relatives pushed his wife over, she hit her head and she died a couple of weeks later.

I have her death cert and on it the cause of death is convulsions, paralysis and syncope.

Is it likely that the bump on the head and her death are linked ? The death happened in 1909. Would there have been a post mortem if the death was suspicious ?

Her death was not sudden as she remained alive for several weeks after the incident.

If the circumstances surrounding her injury were known it would not be classed as suspicious so a pm would be unlikely.

Does the death cert make any mention of Coroner etc

Thanks Carole, I can see that if she told the doctor that she had tripped and hit her head, then it wouldn`t have been suspicious

This guy was definitely the black sheep of my family - his 10 year old daughter witnessed her Mother being pushed over and she told her daughter about it many years later. It`s only in the last few weeks that I was told about this, and there have been other stories about him that are impossible to verify but I have found a few newspaper articles from the magistrates court about him.

Thanks again

No mention of coroner on the DC

(Tried to modify the above post but my internet connection is so slow tonight  ::)

A PM might not have been required but I would have thought an inquest would have been held under the circumstances. I would try checking local newspapers to see if the details were reported.

Thanks Colin, that`s a great idea.

Any ideas of which website is best for looking for this kind of thing online ? I`m not in the UK, and have access to 18th and 19th century newspapers but not ones covering 1909.

Any suggestions you can give me would be great.

Thanks again
