Hi

I'd like to see the original but I interpret it to mean that Thomas had died before Martha was born

PS I think I've got the CD with it on but can't put my hand to it at the moment - was yours on Ancestry?

Have a look for a burial of Thomas Maddox around that time

It means that Martha was baptised and she was the (posthumus) daughter of Thomas Maddox  and Martha

This looks like his burial - 11 July 1739

Weston Coton is close to Oswestry - I have ancestors from there.

A dead child could not be baptised, so the question does not arise.

How  sad  that the  father  died  just  around  the   time  the  daughter was  born.

I've got masses in the Oswestry area - I come from the Denbighshire/Shopshire borders. Nothing on Bishops Castle but there are some online booklets.  Also you could put up a separtate look up on the Shropshire board. Pete Edwards has a lot of info.
