You need the birth certificate for Knowles Rayson Venables Decr 1893 Islington Vol. 1b p. 229.
He had an older brother Edward Rayson Venables Mar 1890 Islington Vol. 1b p.224.
The most reliable data comes from such certificates, not from other sources. Are you OK with the method to buy certificates?
Having said that I will take a look at censuses. I have a Harriet Venables from Islington in my own ancestry but a while before these.  :)
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

Hi Hackstaple and Minor

Many thanks for the advise and information. No problem with obtaining certificates but the census is a useful way to check for additions to the family or related visitors which was my hope in this case as well as confirming as well as you can from the census that the family had not lost anyone

Thanks once again

Happy hunting

Hi Chris
My Grandfather, Edward Rayson Venables (Ray) was Knowles Rayson VENABLES' b c 1893 elder brother.   Their father was Edward & mother Elizabeth Annie. Ray was my mother's father.

Interesting that Ray isn't in the census info - presume he was away at school.

Just happened to be doing some research on them and their other brothers, Horace & Denbigh when I came across your post.  If you know anything about Knowles and how he died at quite a young age (22) I'd love to know.

Thanks
Vicky

Hi,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

This might be Edward Rayson VENABLES in 1901,

1901  Surrey House, Edgar Road, Margate, Kent

Rayson VENABLES    Pupil    11    London

Surrey House, Edgar Road was a school, here is a picture,

There a couple more here if you scroll through them,

https://margatelocalhistory.co.uk/HotSpotViewer/OS_1907_Pics/Lower%20Northdown%20Road.html

It looks like the school moved buildings.

Regards,
Daisy
