Hello Steve

Do you have Thomas and wife in any Census at all.  Easier to find his death if you know last census found.

On Family Search there are two baptisms  could one of them be your Thomas.
Thomas     Gibbs  Rolfe  bap 26th March 1816 Elmstone Kent Parents John and Racheal Rolfe

Thomas Roalfe  bap 9th feb 1817 Elmstone Kent Parent  Sarah  Rolfe

Pam

Noble  Sheffield/Derby
Kirk     Sheffield/Northumberland
Lenton Sheffield
Ward  Deryshire

hi pam,
can't find thomas in any census, and  can only find sarah in 1851, as i said with son thomas, lists her as a widow so i know thomas died before then, just can't nail him down, it's info on thomas senior and wife sarah i am trying to find. i have thomas jnr in all census up to his death in 1861. sorry if i confused you.

Thomas son of Sarah ROALFE baptised Elmsted 9 Feb 1817 looks promising http://www.hastingleigh.com/Elmsted/Elmsted-Baptisms.html

Have you seen any marriage for Thomas ROLFE bc1817 to see whether there is any father listed/names of witnesses which could be helpful?

Stephen, Emma will need to post twice more on the main boards before the Rootschat personal message system is automatically activated ........... replying to this post twice more will enable you to exchange personal messages.

hello cas,
thanks for replying, forgot all about the restrictions on newbie's messaging service, thanks for the reminder. i do have what i believe to be thomas's marriage, in 1840 to a hannah foreman, gives his father as thomas also. had a quick look at the baptism above, looks promising so i will look into it further.
thanks again

Hi,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I've just been going through everything I've found in the past. We're related to Thomas Rolfe through his and Hannah Foreman's son George who married Elizabeth Cole. How are you linked to them? We have that birth on the 9th Feb 1719 down as Thomas's date of birth, however multiple different family trees seem to have that one too. We've also been told that Thomas Rolfe (Junior) remarried after Hannah died (Sometime between 1861 and 1871) to a Jane Cloke, have you heard this? There's a Jane E Cloke that married a Thomas Rolfe (same d.o.b as ours) in 1842 (which is too early, so we think we may have been thrown a red herring as we cannot find an appropriate later marriage). On the Sarah and Thomas (Senior) side of things we're stumped too - although on the census it does say Sarah was the wife of a pauper so we're going to check out the poorhouse records.

Kind regards,

Emma

Jane Elizabeth CLOKE married Thomas RALPH 1842 Hythe.  He is a different Thomas "RALPH". She remarries Thomas ROLFE March quarter 1867 Elham registration district ref. 2a 1099 http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Does anybody have the burial for Sarah (mother of Thomas) to see what age is given there?
