Where did you find the find the information about John the son of Roger and Catherine?
I think it's pretty certain that John, Bella and James were siblings as on their baptisms it gives all 3 as the children of Roger and Elizabeth. Roger is a mariner. When John and Bella were baptised they were living at Litherland Alley and when James was baptised at Crooked Lane.

Here are the two signatures from the marriages - the first is to Catherine and the second to Elizabeth. What do you think, are they the same man?

My best guess would be no.Do you agree?
Chorley John was a Cabinet Maker.
Not sure where I found John son of Roger and Catherine as I have done this work in three distinct bursts.....this being the third.
My first was in the 80s so per computers at least for me so am thinking Mormon Index.

I dont think so either, even though there is 10 years between them, they are quite different. In the second one he hasn't got his name right.
There are quite a few Mcclouds around Liverpool, it just seem odd that there were two who were mariners.

Problem is it is pre census. I've been looking and apart from the baptisms and marriages I cant find anything. I hoped there might be a baptism for him, but cant find anything on the sites I know. Hopefully some one on here might have access to other sources.

I've found these births on Family Search
Isabel Mccloud 23 July 1775

Rodger Mccloud 21 Feb 1781
All children of Roger Mccloud and Catherine and baptised at Benns Garden or Renshaw St Presbyterian church.

Thanks again.
Could the Chorley John be this one.
He was 75 in 1841.
Although the signatures didn't match, there is still a Possibility that they are one and the same as Roger and Catherine's last child was born in 1781 and Roger married Elizabeth in 1784.
Are there no records of death of Roger or Catherine?

If they are one and the same, the problem is that as Roger was probably born about 1750 (given as he married in 1774) he will most likely have died before registration started in 1837. The only chance is if someone can find him or Catherine in a parish register.
