JOHN CONNELL

Hello,
Can anyone give me any ideas on how to find out more about a JOHN CONNELL in my family tree.? I have him as the Father of Jane Connell on her marriage certificate in 1847  in Manchester.(To James Hudson)  He is a Hatter.  I know he married a MARY. (I believe she MAY have been Mary Ann Burrows, but not certain).
 Mary and the children show up in the 1841 census in Oldham cum Prestwich, lancashire. The children are  William (1826), Jane(1829, my ancestor), Mary(1831), John (1832) and Peter(1834).  Mary the Mother is listed as been born in County i.e lancashire. The children are all born Not in County, and I know my ancestor Jane was born in London Middlesex. There is no mention of Husband JOHN CONNELL and Mary Connell is living by Independent means.
Mary was born in about 1769, so I am assuming that Husband John would have been sometime around that date.
Any ideas where to go from here?

It looks like Peter in 1861 (Born Lambeth, Surrey)
RG9/2871 f61 p27 with wife Rebecca, also there Sarah Hudson described as mother but she is Rebecca's mother.

The marriage of John Connell to Eliza is on CheshireBMD as at St Mary Stockport (gives her names as Arden & Porter) - on FamilySearch is it 10 Feb 1851 - he's John Hulm Connell, she's Eliza Arden father John Porter which tends to indicate she was a widow & the date/place would match the death found in 1850.

Jan - just re-read this I think there's a typo - her age of 45 in 1841 because of roundings would be 45-49 ie date of birth c1791-1796.

It does look as though the 1851 Rosie found is a strong probable for him.

I see the marriage to Mary Ann Burrows 4 May 1823 at what became Manchester Cathedral is on FamilySearch - shame all the children are pre-civil registration so harder to confirm the maiden name.

Thank you so much for all your  interest and replies.
  It looks as though perhaps John Connell remarried an Eliza after Mary's death??  If it is the correct John in the 1851 census then he was born in Oldham. I wonder why he was not on the 1841 cenus with the rest of his family?
 Also I wonder why the family went to London and Surrey?  The only record on family search for John in Oldham that I could find was a John Hoom Connel Christened 23 Feb 1800. at St. Peters. Father John Mother Penninah. I wonder if that was my John?
 I see a John Hume Connell married an Eliza Arden in 1851.Stockport. James Porter - her Father- as you said.  As usual finding one clue throws up a dozen more questions!

Eliza Arden was a widow, Full age, of Stockport, father James Porter Farmer
Both signed
Marriage 10th February, 1851

Looking at the baptism that you found for John Hoom Connell on lan-opc it shows that his father was a Hatter.
