Hey garstonite,

dad did not recall any of the names.  Also Samuel James Oakes was born on 24.12.1898 somewhere in Manchester I believe.  maybe wrong branch of the tree.

I believe it was called The Knowsley Arms and was on the corner of William Henry Street before they widened the road. It was known locally as the blue house.

I was born there on 10 October 1961 as my parents, Frank & Margaret Oakes, managed it for a short time. Unfortunately that is all I know. I don't even have a photograph myself but I remember driving past it a few times.

I was born in 1958 in Bootle maternity hospital, but my mothers address is listed as 203 Derby Rd which I believe was the Knowsley Arms. Her name was Margaret Reaney (formally Rigby) Got to be likely that they knew each other.
