Margaret Johnston information please

Margaret Johnston b 30 December 1888, Panmure Auckland.
Parents Christopher Johnston, age 36, b Hobart, occupation Tanner.
Mother Margaret Johnston, formely Mcalpine, Scotland. Parents were never married.
Two other siblings Christopher Johnston b 31 Dec 1885 and a younger brother William Johnston b 5 March 1891 Panmure. [ I have no further info on William either]
Very difficult with no second names and a common surname.

The names of this family somehow "rang a bell" with me ... and I see there are previous threads with info which may be helpful to carry over to this new search.   

I'm just going to have a read through them as a "refresher" (to see what has been found earlier).

Do you have a copy of the Death record (1919) for Margaret Stewart McAlpine OLSEN ?

If so, what is recorded for "living issue"  ?   [The ages and sex of her children who were alive at the time of her death, should be recorded.  Are Margaret (b1888) and William (b 1891) still alive at that time ?]

... mentioned in your other thread also, was the fact that there was a Probate record for ( the mother) Margaret Stewart OLSEN - 1919 (held at Archives New Zealand in Auckland).

This record may very well contain info on her family ... and might even save a lot of time in looking for the missing Margaret and William.   

I think it's worth viewing the Probate record firstly.   

[If you haven't got access to Auckland Archives, you can place a request for a look-up of the Probate file -- just start a separate thread.  ]

Thankyou for all replies.
I have Probate and copy of will for Margaret Stewart Olsen [McAlpine] unfortunately no mention of issue, entire estate left to husband Otto Olsen.
Will order death certificate, maybe children named.
Did not follow up on schooling apart from Christopher, eldest son who went to Kings College, after Ellerslie primary.

Hi Jeanette,

You will only find the age of "issues" on the death cert,if ordering certs it pays to get the printout they are cheaper and usually have more info on them,
