ha!    that doesn't help me - I still can't get into the forums I am following.  As for William Kennedy, I am looking him up and having a great time imagining Sculcoates back in the 1800's, thanks.

I now think that my William Kennedy, born in Scotland, a millwright ,was married to a Martha and I suspect a Martha Lapish, around 1811.  As I can find nothing about their marriage, subsequent children,(born over the next 25 years, on a subscription website, i wonder if they were non conformist.  they lived in the Holderness road area, Scott St, etc where the mills were.   Does anyone have any clues as to where I should look if I visit Beverley records?  ie are there BMD records for these years among non conformist records at Beverley?  What churches is it likely to be?

Looking for any Kennedy names in Sculcoates I found the following under the wrong spelling
Marriage 19 August 1811 William Kannady bach Parish of Drypool, & Martha Lapish Spinster of this Parish Banns by Richard Patrick witnessed by Mary Ann Kennedy & George Marshall also on the next page and I am including this because of the witness names as it may be of interest to you,
10 Nov 1811 Joseph Brazendale Bachelor, & Frances Barraclough Spinster both of this parish Banns by me Richard Patrick, witnessed by Martha & Wm Kennedy.
Children of Wm & Martha may be baptised in Drypool, Hull? seeeing as William was of this Parish.
There is also a marriage for a Wm Kennedy 1795 in Sculcoates.

thank yo so very much.   this has given me a lot to go on.   William Kennedy had come down from Scotland - would he still be called a bachelor of this parish?   (Drypool)

Hi,
Found a George Foster baptised Sculcoates 24 August 1817 son of Ann Foster, Church St, Spinster, born 19 April 1815, by me George Mackereth, Curate, so it looks as though he was illegitimate.

Hi, Just got your last message and as far as I can gather you had to have lived or worked there to be of the Parish, but don't quote me on this as I could be wrong,

well he was a millwright in somergangs, I presume just out of apprenticeship from Scotland.  he is listed in various trade directories etc.  so yes, he was working there.

William and Martha kennedy seem to have had children over a 24 year period.  a child death, janet in 1822, My ancestor janet in 1824, then Ann 1833 and Thomas 1835.  these are all I have.
