St Thomas Church Lambeth
« on: Saturday 07 April 12 09:11 BST (UK) »
Hello fellow Chatters

Just wondering if anyone has a picture, etching, lithograph, watercolour or other pic of St Thomas' Church that was situated on Westminster Bridge Rd Lambeth.

The church was destroyed in WWII and I have tried searching through Lambeth Archives online and the Metropolitan Archives, but have come up with nought. :-\

Any other suggestions for searching???

Cheers
MM

Note to Moderator: Sorry, just saw I had put this under the Resources thread when I meant to put it under London and Middlesex. Could you move it for me please? Ta muchly

Hi

Have you contacted Lambeth Archives directly and enquired what they hold?

I was looking for this church too, as I discovered my grandfather was married to his first wife there.

I found this site with information about it;

http://www.southwark.anglican.org/downloads/lostchurches/LAM12.pdf

but it states that there are no known drawings or images of the church.

Hi LibbyandGwen

Thanks for that - I had already found it, but you might like to look on the site at the link below.

I came across some architectural drawings and an etching of St Thomas on this site  (hope the link works).

I have a picture of the inside of this church.  I am related to a former vicar of this church, and found the pictures in a collection of family albums.  I can't seem to upload the picture, so send me a private message and I will email you a copy.

That's great Servty

Please post again once you can use the pm.

I'd be really keen to see your photos. Are you willing to give the name of your ancestor who was vicar there?  I'm interested in the local history aspect of Westminster Bridge Road.
