Hope Parish Church, Flintshire
« on: Monday 09 April 12 11:23 BST (UK) »
Is there a record anywhere of Memorial inscriptions for Hope Parish Church graveyard? I'm hoping to visit during the summer and it would save time if I knew what I was looking for.

Thanks! What a quick reply. Do you know if there are any directories, eg trade directories for the Hope/Caergwrle area in the 1800's?

If you look lower down the page, you'll see that they also do a CD of North Wales Directories. I'm not sure if they're covered but they might well be included with Wrexham.

Ancestry has a database of Trade Directories and I think there are some online for free from Leicester University's collection.

St Cynfarch Hope have afternoon's on the following dates: 12th May, 9th June, 14th July, 11th August, 8th Sept, 6th October, 10 Nov, and 15th Dec, where you can see all their registers for Births, Marriages and Deaths.  They also have a plan of the old graves around the church but for the newer ones down the road you have to contact the Flintshire Council.  It is open from 2pm til 4pm and they are all Saturdays.

Thanks for the information about the church. I've managed to access the BMD records for the Church through 'Findmypast' but I'd like to go have look at the records, and the church, if I can sometime this summer.  I've just received a copy of the MI's for Hope church, which also gives a plan of the churchyard, and have found one so far that definitely belongs to my family. Graves don't always have headstones of course. I think that some  of my relatives could be in the local cemetery so I'll get in touch with the council about their records.
One other question..........is Cymmau part of Hope or Caergwrle?
Thanks for your help.

The Genuki entry for the Hope parish shows that the township of Cymau was indeed part of the Hope parish;
