Photo taken outside of the UK maybe..?
« on: Monday 09 April 12 22:30 BST (UK) »
Would I be right in thinking that this photo was taken outside of the UK, my father is the gent on the left with pipe, am been trying to identifier his uniform so far with no luck. He wouldn't say much about it and I wouldn't ask him, I don't know his No but I have his War Medals. France & Germany Star, 1939-45 Star and a War Medal 1939-45.

I would say it was France, look behind the soldier on the right as we look at it, I think  that is a huge French "Le Tricolore" hanging from the balcony, balconies are a feature of french buildings, though the lack of window shutters leaves me with a slight doubt.
another possible is Italy

It's unlikely to be Italy. Most likely France.

His rifle and GS cap tell us it's from late 43 onwards and his blanco covered gaters tell us it's more likely to be North West Europe than Italy, which the medals back up.

To me, the middle stripe of the tricolour looks rather dark to be white. Belgium, maybe?

I'm pretty sure it's the northwest corner of Groenplaats in Antwerp, where Jan Blomstraat enters the square, with the cathedral just behind the row of houses on the right.
