Stanstead - Abbotts or St Margaret's - BLAKE
« on: Friday 13 April 12 13:15 BST (UK) »
I wonder if someone could do a look up for me on the Parish Records?

I'm looking for the baptism of JAMES BLAKE around 1795 - 1801.

In the census James gives his place of birth as Stanstead, Herts with no indication which one it is. By 1823 he was living in Ealing. All the census records give different estimates for his year of birth.

Thanks

Hi,

Firstly welcome to Rootschat.
I searched the parish records for Stanstead Abbotts and St.Margarets for the period 1795-1801 but regret no trace of a baptism for James BLAKE.

Hi

Just a suggestion ..........

1861 census has his age as 73 = approx 1788
1851 census has his age as 66 = approx 1785
1841 census has his age as 40 = "rounded"

May I suggest looking 10 years earlier than you have been?
So 1785 - 1795 as PeterCornish has looked for you 1795 onwards.

Also found the following on FreeBMD
(May not mean anything at all)
James Blake
1866 Q1 Marylebone 1a 352
Age at Death:  80
Est Birth: abt 1786

Hi Richaldis,

I made the search for the period suggested but regret no trace of James in either parish.
