Welsh Researchers
« on: Sunday 15 April 12 09:44 BST (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help me as I am up against a brick wall and need to locate a researcher with specific interests in welsh geneology.

Note:
As I have had a few emails asking me to put the information on here to see if anyone can help here goes:-

Annie Ellen Thomas (my grandmother) approx birth  1892 according to her marriage certificate.
Birth place:  Wales.  Area unknown.  Cannot locate her birth certificate.  This is what I am really after to know the mothers full single name.
Death: 7/4/1973 Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales.

Marriages:  x 3
1.   Ernest Edwins  7/5/1916 Caerau, Glamorganshire.  Died in the forces in Flanders 1917.
2.   William Phillips  9/5/1921- Newport, glamorganshire - died 08/12/1961 Senghenydd, Glamorganshire, South Wales
3.   Harry Edmunds 1965  Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales - died 1967.

William Henry Phillips (my grandfather) born 1880 St George, Barbados

Thomas Thomas (my great grandfather- miner ) Not sure of birth but approx 1870 - area unknown- death I believe in the 1930's in Caerphilly, South Wales.
Ellen Thomas ( my great grandmother) (dont know her single name) Not sure of birth approx 1870 - death I believe in the 1930's and died  in abertridwr, caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales.

The electoral roll is the most positive source of information I have.  The family have indicated that thomas thomas, ellen and annie were from the North??   Thomas moved the family to the south because of work and went to work in Bedwas Collery as he was a miner.

I am told the family were fluent in welsh but spoke english too.

Annie had her first child (Llewellyn Edwins Thomas) at 18 Harold Street, Tir-y-dail, Ammanford in 1915. In 1916 at the time of her first marriage she was still at this address.  This is the furthest north I have located her.    On that certificate Annie is showing her usual address as 35, Margam Street, Caerau, Glamorganshire.  Then by 1917 when she had her second child  (Ellen)she was living in 29 William Street, Trethomas as confirmed by Ellen's birth certificate and subsequently Gwent Records in 1918 - 1933.

The whole problem here is the names are so common that it is difficult to distinguish my family out of the remainder of the population.  There are a few options in the census but none of the addresses mentioned are showing up with thomas families,  apart from 35 Margam street, in 1911 which could be a co-incidence but my thomas thomas and ellen and annie are  definitely not there and the family at that address do not appear to be related by going back to earlier census checking to see if Thomas appears.

I have checked on several websites and have a few options for Thomas Thomas's death but still not sure.  I have penyrheol pentecostal checking records of deaths of Thomas and Ellen Thomas as I know for sure they died in the caerphilly abertridwr area.

I have checked glamorgan records and they do not have the records I am seeking and have indicated that if I want to find the deaths of thomas and ellen thomas I need to check find my past website which I have done constantly with too many options as I do not know the exact details of when they died but believe it to be in the 1930's.

If anyone can help me or can provide me with information to put me into the right direction this would be appreciated as I now feel it may be time to pass it onto a researcher as I cant get past this brick wall.

thanks again,

Thanks

Ruth
Names: Thomas, Phillips
Areas: Senghenydd, Abertridwr, Trethomas, Caerau, Glamorganshire
Llandilofawr, Carmarthenshire
