Does anybody know if Clophill and Clapwell are the same.  I have been trying to find Clapwel on the maps and cannot find it. I have a marriage of a person from Clapwel 1741.

Yes it is the same place

recorded as "Clopelle" in Domesday book

1200's -1400's it went under the following names
Clophull
Clophulle
Clophill
Claphull
Clouphull
16th century Clapwell
17th century
Claphill
Clapwel


Suz
Thornhill, Cresswell, Sisson, Harriman, Cripps, Eyre, Walter, Marson, Battison, Holmes, Bailey, Hardman, Fairhurst Noon-mainly in Derbys/Notts-but also Northampton, Oxford, Leics, Lancs-England

So I should say that this couple living in Clophill are mine.  I wanted to check for certain before entering them on my tree as the marriage said he was from Clapwel.
