marriage look-up ROBINSON, George
« on: Monday 16 April 12 07:41 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for a marriage between George Robinson and Dorothy Spencer ??? at Aysgarth, Walden, Yorkshire NR. Can't find a Dorothy Spencer born in Aysgarth, but a Spence. The date is approx. 1775-1777, as a daughter was born in 1777.
Could use all the help I can get please as there are millions of Robinsons in Yorkshire.  ;D
Thanks.

Hi,

Familysearch has a marriage listed for Aysgarth of Dorothy Spence to a George Robinson on 24/12/1776, could that be the one you are looking for? Guessing it would tie-in with the Dorothy Spence baptism you have.

Hi grannys42, :)

The marriage Kev mentioned is the most likely one for George and Dorothy.
What makes you think her maiden name was Spencer and not Spence ?

Kind regards,

Pels.

I've just checked and a couple of the trees on Ancestry claim her maiden name was Spencer, but the marriage date given is the same as the one on the IGI.

Thank you for these look-ups.  On the website familysearch.org, it gives the marriage name of the bride as Dorothy Spencer.  I don't have access to the marriage register only the baptisms.  There is no Dorothy Spencer baptised in Aysgarth only Spence.  I wanted to verify this before I proceeded. This makes it much cleared.
The marriage of Frances to Eleanor, was that in 1805??? as I can't find any mention of this? Was her name Bell??? Each answer creates another question.
Thanks again.
Jeanette

Christening: 8th June 1778
Eleanor Bell
Parents: Thomas and Agnes Bell,
Middleham, Yorkshire

Coverham is only about a mile and a half from Middleham.

There is a possible burial here :

Date of burial :   17th August 1834
Eleanor Robinson
Coverham, Yorkshire

But an age isn't given, so I can't be sure.
