Hi Dinarina

The Bivri can be purchased online at the LDS site in Utah, USA (familysearch.org)  If you are in the uk then Birmingham distribution centre is the place to go.  Search google and you will get the phone number and address.  It is now on version 2.

What is the Bivri? I know it is the British Vital Records Index but what is that?I seem to have seen it mentioned on Rootschat several times this week and don't know what it contains? Also how much is it approx? Is it a Cd?

Yes, it's on cd-rom.
I believe it lists births/christenings & some marriages that are not necessarily on the IGI Index. They have just produced a 2nd edition has had many more names added to it. I found a list of all the counties & dates etc by searching on the LDS website. I think it costs $20 plus shipping if ordering on their website - but LDS @ Birmingham have them as well - cost, I'm not really sure. That's where I got my 1881 British Census & National Index from. That cost £29 approx - but very useful as it has an index search facility as well.

the info above is correct thats where i got mine dont buy from a certain auction site as some of them dont work as they  are American and LDS wont help you if dont buy from them cost £20

I purchased mine(vital records index edition 2) directly from the LDS Birmingham

in feb of this year  cost me £22.95 & theres no extra charge for P & P when you ring them ask them for a product list too 

Will warn you that there maybe 10.4 million birth & christening records & 1.9 million marriage records, but by all means it doesn't cover every area.  But well worth the money & a darn site cheaper then the previously mentioned auction site!!
