Hi Chris...I think I'm out by 100 years...just realised you put the marriage at 1744...maybe this was his descendent.

Your Matthew Young could have originated in Stillingfleet, which is not far from Aughton/Bubwith across the A19 York Road.
There are 2 birth entries at Stillingfleet, prior to those at Aughton for children to a Matthew Young

And I have found this Baptism entry which I would say is the birth of the Matthew Young you seek, Wistow is between Stillingfleet and Aughton/Bubwith.

if you go to this resource board on RC you will find registers to read on line, one is for Howden and there are Young noted. People from Bubwith/Aughton etc used Howden church too.

I know for certain there is a transcribed copy of Bubwith/Aughton at my local library, so will have a look this week hopefully for you.

I have been to the local library and had a look at the Transcribed copy of the Parish Reg for Aughton 1610-1812

There is a lot of Young/e listed, but I only took the notes for those for any Matthew, if you require the full lot let me know and I will do that for you.
