Brownell - Dacre Research
« on: Saturday 28 April 12 21:32 BST (UK) »
I am researching my family from 1500-1700 Derby,  Derbyshire but have been experiencing difficulty in the "known" search engines and .coms.

The family members I am looking for are: Miss Elizabeth Brownell  (1570), John Brownell, his heir and daughter Dame Mary Dacres, wife of Sir Robert Dacres (1682).

Any assistance willl be appreiated from a very frustrated gal  :)

Hi,

There is lots of information if you search Google, however most of it is submitted family trees plus information
this should always be treated with caution, it is best to use this information to further your own research for
instance mary brownell is said to have been given Arms and title Dame.

This early, and with titled persons you can assume they owned Land, records relating to this appear on
the National Archives Site, remember when searching for names on this site use Speech Marks " John Brownell"

The following connection gives some information, there are many others:-

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=155-zmi&cid=154#154

As you will see John Brownell is quotes as Gent of London, assume it is the one you are looking for
because a witness is Mary Dacres.
