free birth certs of margaret jack b1880 - 1890

if anyone is interested....

there were 12 margaret jacks born in whole of ross & cromarty between 1880 & 1890. i had purchased them all (on scotlandspeople website) while searching for my ggrandmother (and still havent found her!)

they are all in Avoch, and if anyone wants a copy of any, let me know and i can send you an email.

there was also only one born in Inverness during same years and i have a copy as well.

if anyone is able to shed some light on where i might find my ggrandmother's birth cert, i would be very greatful.
here is the info i have....
marriage cert 1907: margaret jack 23yrs, father william jack, ploughman & mother helen cameron.
death cert 1927: margaret jack 42yrs, father alex. jack, vanman & mother helen cameron.

When did Margarets parents marry?
It is just, possible that Margaret is illegitimate.

i have tried looking for margaret cameron on scotlandspeople and found a possible match born in 1886.

margaret jack cameron (illegitimate) born to ellen cameron in knockbain.
but on finding them again in 1891 census, ellen is remarried to a william mcstephen.

i have talked this possibility over with my father and although we agree that it is a possible match, we are not completely certain. - when margaret married my ggrandfather her surname was definitely jack, not cameron. also her mother is listed as helen jack m.s cameron, so it would appear that she was married to margarets father. - i can not find this marriage, but it appears that the helen/ellen that married william mcstephen had never been married before.

any further comments or suggestions always welcome.

I had a look at the marriages as well,
and found none suitable.
I do feel that, what you have just posted . is your answer.
Margaret probably was illegitimate. but her father was the known father, and may have taken responsibility.
But the parents, never married.
Margaret always knew who her father was, so when it was her choice, she said she was a Jack.
It happens ofter.
[An expert, I am sure will correct me.]
In Scotland there are about 4 ways of marriage.
one is--------s/relations, were allowed, with the promise of marriage, that is why, if the man backs out, it is quite serious,
in the eyes of the church, but the girl, must be open about the pregnancy.

On the birth certificate, did it have writting in the far lefthand side?
If so, this can be researched, and it will say who the father is.
But I feel this will be the Margaret your looking for.

this might be Lewis (jr) but the age is a little out...
