The widow, Mary EVANS
« on: Monday 14 May 12 20:31 BST (UK) »
On 25 Nov 1757, the widow, Mary EVANS, married John ALBON in Llandyfeilog. I have not been able to find her previous marriage, and therefore am unable to find her maiden name.
Can anyone help, please?

Sorry but I can't help with Mary's maiden name.  :(

Are there any clues from the marriage witnesses?

I've did that once too! With a name like Mary Evans we need every clue we can get. I have a Mary Evans too but luckily in 19th century when I could find her on the census!  ::)

Witnesses were John Moyrick (poss Meyrick), and I think Morris David. This last signature was very 'flowery'. John Moyrick seems to witness every marriage. He could have been a clerk or other Church official.

As a matter of interest, a marriage on the next page was Owen Griffith and Jane Simon. Witnesses were John Griffith, David John and the ever present John Moyrick.

Rhosgoch,

Thanks for saving my blushes!

Concerning your second paragraph, Owen GRIFFITH & Jane SIMON are also mine, although, strictly speaking, my wife's. The witnesses names are a bonus, for which many thanks.

Morgan,

Concerning the 'related thread' in your earlier reply, as I mentioned, my computer won't let me access this. Is there any other way you can direct me to it, please?

Hello George  :)

It's your thread on John Alban or Albon in the Cardiganshire board.

Can't understand why your computer won't let you open the link  :-\

This help page explains how to find your own posts (e.g. via your profile page):

Hi Morgan,

The inability to access 'links' is baffling several local computer experts; the concensus seems to be 'get another computer', but the hassle of program and data transfer is making me hesitate.

I'll have a look at your latest suggestion tomorrow - I'm off to bed now!

Regards
