Eric Scattergood

Eric Scattergood died in Derby in 2001 aged 91, therefore born in 1910. There was a male Scattergood born in Derby in 1910, so I'm assuming this is him. He married before 1943 to Cis White, but I can't find a marriage record. I don't know what Cis was short for (Caroline, Cicley...). Their first child was born in 1943 in Derby.

Can anyone find a marriage record and a birth record that shows his parents?

Hi there

Had a look for a marriage of a Eric Scattergood and a White and found three
but non of the ladies are called Cicely or Caroline etc.
There is a lady called Connie White and they married in Chesterfield in 1938.

I did find a child I think is the one you are speaking about.
Its a girl called Marian Scattergood with the Mothers maiden name of White
born in Derby in September 1943.

You might have to buy the birth certificate to find out what the first name of
her Mother was?

p.s. Just found another child Peter Scattergood mothers maiden name White
born 2nd qtr of 1945.  If Connie is the right wife you are looking for then
she could have gone back to her home and family if Eric was in the War
at the time.  Women had their children at home not particularly in a hospital.

Peter was born in Chesterfield. This was a different family. Eric and Cis only had four daughters between 1943 and 1955, all in Derby.

The death civil registration in Derby April 2001 is for Hallsworth Eric Scattergood, born 8th February 1910.
Derby B460 District 3941B - per ancestry.

His obituary appears in the Derby Evening Telegraph as Eric Scattergood.

His birth March Q 1910 Basford 7b 260.

You will find him on the 1911 Census as Hallsworth Eric Scattergood.

Cannot find a suitable marriage however there is a Lewis E = Mary White March Q 1943 Ilkeston.

Thanks Spendlove. Yes I found these records, but  have been trying to get 'better' ones before deciding that 'Hallsworth Eric' is really 'Eric'. And as for the Lewis E marriage?...

I am Roy Scattergood Eric's second son from his only marriage to Phyllis Powell, he was never Wed to Cis
He had four sons with Phyllis Scattergood His only married partner

chempat, Hallsworth Eric Scattergood and Eric Scattergood are one in the same, although I had very little contact with him I did go to his funeral in 200. his four daughters never knew he had another legitimate family before setting up home wit Cis in Percy St. Derby, she took his surname and kept his past a secret from the children until I made contact after his Death. roys
