Mary Kate Gavin-Tullamore
« on: Saturday 19 May 12 17:21 BST (UK) »
Mary kate ,my grandmother appears on the 1901 census age 4 as part of her aunt Catherine Colsh family. Her father Patrick Gavin is residing alone in Quarry View. By 1911 Mary Kate age 14 is living at Quarry View along with her father, now widowed  and her 10 year old Bridget. Up to know I have been unable to trace the girls respective births or a marriage that fits

I am asssuming that Bridget was born during the 1901 census period as no mention of her or her mum made on the census, the girls mother must have died between 1901-1911.

Two possible names for the mother which may ring a bell _  being Anne Egan or Mary Toole but not confirmed

Any one else researching Gavin family ?any ideas welcome

 Many Thanks Scatty

There's an extracted birth for at least one of the Colsh children on Familysearch  -

  Name:   William Colsh
  Birth date: 29 May 1872
  Birthplace: Tullamore, King's Co.
Parents:   Thomas Colsh & Catherine Gaven
  Ref : 706

Unfortunately the Colsh connection seems to the male side of your Gavin family, so tracing this back doesn't help

There's doesn't seem to be civil births for either Mary Kate or Bridget - assuming that is they were both born in Tullamore district.

There's a possible baptism showing up on the free index on RootsIreland - a Mary Gavin or Gavan, baptized in Tullamore RC parish in 1897 with father's name Pat/Patrick. The child's full name appears to be Mary Cath[erine].

If this is the right family then a baptism should show mother's full name.

mother's name showing up as a match when I try Anne Egan.. this is as much detail as you can get from the free index. The transcript should show the date of baptism, maybe a place of residence, and also the names of two godparents.
