They apparently had 14 Children but i can not find registrations for any.

There is some reg just  F or M which could fit.

Have school records forAlbert Town school which gives names
Alex b8th Nov 1871
Christina b 7th Jun 1874
Hugh b 7th jun 1874
Donald b ?
Jeanie b 26th dec 1868
Jessie b 3rd May 1866
Maggie b 7th Aug 1879

Mary b?

I have a article from Papers Past Otago Witness 30th Jul 1902 when they left the district.
Also Christina Marriage to Frank Williams Otago Witness 28th Dec 1893 which states that she was the 5th Dau.

Christina is the line im following but am interested in all the other siblings as well.

Margaret.

Hello,

Do you know the religion of the Thomas and Mary CAMERON.

I see that their daughter Christina was married by a Wesleyan minister. Have you tried contacting the Methodist Archives of NZ to see if Thomas and Mary had their children baptised.

The Methodist Archives have indexed records of baptism notices back to 1870 but the baptism registers themselves may go further back.

I've not had dealings with the Methodist Archives so I'm not sure how to go about reseraching there. But here is their fact sheet page and it has a Family History fact sheet.

Regards
Beg

Hi
If you enter the exact dates you have, you come up with several names (put surname only)
and you can see for instance births 8/11/1871 there is

1871/2018 Cameron  Alexander

Hello Margaret

Had hoped, as Thomas and Mary CAMERON had such a large brood, that someone else might be researching this family.   :)   [A (quick-ish) search for a family tree revealed nothing though. ]

I'd recommend that before you go in search of possible baptism records, that you try contacting one of the following :

Wanaka Genealogy Group (e-mail link)  >

http://www.mymessenger.co.nz/news.cfm?id=36

or ... NZSG (NZ Society of Genealogists) - Wanaka -- Local Area contact  >

http://www.genealogy.org.nz/Wanaka_189.aspx

In a message board post - of 20 August 2010 - (in another family history forum), there is mention of the recent establishment of "the Upper Clutha Pioneer Family Register" (- which includes records for Wanaka).

And because the CAMERON's had an association of some 35 years with Wanaka, it may be that a family member has contributed information for the pioneer register.

Hi again Margaret

I noticed that you had a "question mark" in place of a maiden surname for Mary, the w/o Thomas CAMERON.

I can't see amongst New Zealand marriages, one for a Thomas CAMERON to "a Mary", in the right timeframe.

It seems probable that Thomas and Mary were already married at the time they emigrated to New Zealand (and may also have brought some children with them ?   .... )

Hi All,

Many thanks for your suggestions I have trawled  BDMs every which way you can  I would have thought the children born after 1875 would show parents name?????  I get no matches for a Thomas and Mary???

I have also checked to see if someone else had done a tree no luck

Contacted the Wanaka branch and got School records for Albert Town from them  nothing else to offer.

i have also  trawled thru shipping lists to see if i could get a Thomas and Mary with some family no definite leads .

It looks like they were here in 1867 at least.

Margaret.

Do you have any death info for Thomas and Mary?  Dates and/or places?

Edit to add:
The only death I can find to match for Thomas is the following -
1910/7625   Cameron   Thomas   78Y

This Thomas is buried in Gore, which matches the comments about them moving to live out of Invercargill.  His probate file is at archives in Dunedin, and might be worth checking:

The births all seem to be there at BMD, just without the parents names..if you just do CAMERON for many of the periods you want, you will see that it is quite normal for many not to have parents named
