Book required
« on: Monday 04 June 12 12:40 BST (UK) »
Greetings all,
Does anyone have a copy of a book; "The Canal Pioneers" by R M Larking , 1967 (published privately)
It apparently contains details on some members of my family. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked on Amazon

or AbeBooks

or Peter Harrington Books

I have bought old and out of print books from all of the above.  Peter Harrington does specialise in 1st editions and can be a bit pricey!

You could ask your public library to borrow it for you through the inter-library loans system.

hi bryn
i,ve checked several book search engines plus those that plummiegirl has mentioned but apart from one minor reference in an index as a thank you i can,t find anything regarding the book at all  , i,m presuming because it was published privately it would have been on a short print run so makes it a rarity by now even though it was only printed in the 60,s , just had a thought and looked in the british library site and found this it isn,t what you asked for but you may find it interesting it reads , the canal pioneers  miscellaneous writings / compiled & edited by rm &hcp larking , goring by sea  18 bury drive goring by sea sussex  [ the compilers  ] [ 1979 ] written it out as it is on the page .

Goring-by-sea, as mentioned in trevor's post, is very close to the start of the wey and arun canal, maybe if you contact the Wey and Arun canal trust someone may be able to help.

or with such a keen interest in canal history he may have been a member of The Inland Waterways Association, their website might be worth a try.
