Birth record for Jabez Burns, 12 Feb 1826

Family trees have the birth date of this Jabez Burns as 12 Feb 1826 in London.  However, his sister was born in Bolton, Lancashire, in about 1822.  I would like to verify the birthdate and place for Jabez Burns.  His father was William Gibson Burns and his mother Elizabeth Horrock.

BTW are these records on line, and this Yank just doesn't know how to navigate the system?

The Jabez I have found in Paddington was a Baptist minister born Oldham 1805

He had links to the USA and visited there. He was given an Honorary Degree of DD by The Wesleyan University of Middletown Connecticut in 1846 and Bates College Lewiston,Maine added LLD in 1872.

And.. I think that the Jabez Burn that you found Jennifer C may be this one, baptised at Manchester Street Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Oldham, Lancashire to parents Joseph & Mary Burn,  Jabez Burn - born 18 Dec 1805 & baptised 28 Jan 1806. Parish of abode - Prestwick.

Not able to find a suitable baptism c. 1812 tho' to parents William & Elizabeth -

Mother either Elizabeth Horrock or Herricks
Jabez married Agnes Brown c1844 either Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland or New York.  Agnes was born 1823 Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland.
Her father James Brown and Mother Margaret or Margret Gold.
Jabez and Agnes had a son Abraham Lincoln Burns who died 1941 New York.
Jabez died 16.9.1888
Agnes died 1904.
Her father James Brown was born 1800 Scotland her mother was born 1801 Scotland and they married 1820 in Scotland.

Jennifer,  A  question?  How does IGI get its records?  I have never thought to ask before.

Although I knew much of the information,  the information about Agnes' parents was completely new to me and very helpful.

The IGI allows you to check the source for each entry. In this case the source for the Jabez Burns entry is

'Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS church'.

Church member submissions can be accurate or just speculations which are often completely inaccurate.

Scottish death certificates unlike English death certificates are very informative. They will give place of birth and parents names (if te person registering the death knew this information).

He married, if in Scotland, before the start of civil registration there.
