Hi Booth Hunter

Many thanks for your message.

We are looking at the mid 1800s up to the 1970s.

The Healey family (my partner's ancestors) were there in 1911, as shown on the 1911 Census, and it was later owned by Georgina Weatherby (née Healey) up to the 1970s and then I believe it was passed to her husband, Reynold Weatherby, in 1974 after she died. It was then sold to someone unknown (and year unknown).

Thomas Healey who lived there, was a puddler, and we believe that he may have worked at the Sinclair Works Iron Foundry, which was probably nearby, hence the road name Sinclair Gardens shown on Google.
I've had a look at the link that you sent and although the property seems to be in the right area it just looks a little bit too modern. That doesn't mean to say that it hasn't been converted and modernised. Next time we're in the area we'll have to go and have a look.

Again, many thanks.

cj

Hi CJ,

Have a look at this link: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=18160

You are probably right about the age of those houses - they do look rather 'modern'  compared to what you are looking for...

There are quite a few Healy's on family search: https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Athomas~%20%2Bsurname%3Ahealy~%20%2Bany_place%3Aketley~&birth_year0=1800

Please cut/paste the links - I am new to this site and still finding my way around!!!

Happy hunting!

Hi BH

Sorry for the big delay in acknowledging your last message. I was out of action for a while.

I'm still researching the property but I haven't found any more details. I've been to Blists Hill a few times over recent years and have seen the squatters cottage.  It's a fascinating museum.

I haven't found any Booths or Cadmans in my research but if I come across any I'll let you know.

Kind regards

Chris.
