Wondering if you ever noticed the name Euphemia Smail in your research? Likely born in Dunbar circa 1750s but later living in Traquair Peebleshire marrying my William Scott about 1779. Thanks.

Hi Kate,

I have a Janet Smail born 24 March 1760 at Stow parents William Smail and Alison Moffat.

Margaret Smael born 10 July 1807 at Stow and Archibald Smael born 25 April 1809 to parents David Smael and Janet Sharp.

Adam Smail married Alison Romaainous at Stow 5 June 1762.

When you say Stow and Temple Stow was actually in Temple Parish this was quite a big area, did he he have brothers and sisters ?.

Cheers.

Archie.

Hi Kate

I think from previous searches, the closest to be found was that birth entry for a David to parents Archibald and Margaret (which you had already by considering) www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,367060.0.html

Names of parents fit well with those of the names of the children of David and Janet. As to confirmation...that can be so hard for this period now  :-\
