William Riggs, father of Frederick Riggs (born in Milton Abbas)

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any info at all on a William Riggs. He was married to a Mary (surname unkown) and they had a son, Frederick Riggs, who was born in Milton Abbas  in c.1832. Frederick went on to marry a Mary House.

Any info. on either Mary would also be appreciated.

Do you know if Frederick had any siblings to help establish when William and Mary may have married?

Family Search can be useful to help getting further back and looking for parish records. Hopefully someone on the board may have access to Milton Abbas marriages to look for you, providing they married there.

Fredk Riggs brother, 19 b Milton Abbas, Dorset, Farm Lab
Eli Riggs brother, 17 b. Milton Abbas, Dorset, Farm Lab

Living in Melcombe Horsey, Dorset

The above could be the Frederick who you are researching, therefore he at least had a sister and brother.

Thanks all. I think I've found the birth place of the siblings, inc. the eldest but am having no luck with a marriage in the area.  Time to get a map out

Try looking on FreeReg, putting just the surname/year with 10 year range/Dorset. You will get a few Riggs, especially Melcombe Horsey. They may be related to your family.
