Mary Wray
« on: Friday 15 June 12 03:05 BST (UK) »
Require help in locating a Mary Wray or Rey or Rea born C1847 in Donegal I believe that she arrived in Brisbane Queensland Australia with her sister in about 1865 aboard the ship Fiery Star. I could not locate the Immigrants log for that ship. Parents were Thomas and Eleanor Wray, Mary married a Arthur McGregor in 1868 in Wee Waa NSW.

Any information about her Irish ancestors would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi, have you any more information? At least a Parish or place name where your Mary may have came from, her sisters name may also be useful, Mary Wray would be a common name in Donegal so more information would be required in order to help you

There's a farmer Thomas Wray and wife Eleanor in the area at the right time, the parish is Donaghmore.

Find the town of Ballybofey on a modern map, you're not far off the area.

Griffiths Valuation shows Thomas Wray farming just over 10 (I think it says that...) acres in  the townland of Carrichnamanna, Donaghmore parish.

Thomas and Eleanor had a daughter Eleanor who was baptised in 1855.
