His will states that  Ladyburn is  in the parish of Kirkmichael

Crosshill (and presumably Ladyburn) were in the civil parish of Kirkmichael but in the church parish of Crosshill.  Crosshill was a 'quoad sacra' parish - ie parish for church purposes -  within the bounds of the civil parishes of Kirkmichael and Maybole

Do you know anything about his early life, I can see from the records on SP & freecen that he was in Ayrshire by 1841 and became Factor after 1851. Did the will note any of his family?

1841 (Freecen) Crosshill Dalwhoan Street, various families no other Kennedy present. David age 45 Cotton Weaver Journeyman, born out of County,

1851 (Freecen) King Street,  Crosshill,
David 56, a Widower, was a Lodger, Cotton Weaver born Paisley.
He is with John Kellie & family.

I’m sure you will have seen this, I love the Ancestry transcription for Paisley, Renfrewshire!

1861 census Ladyburn + 2 servants. Occupation Land Stewart.
