I am looking for the parents of Robert HOLMES who's birth was registered in Oct-Nov-Dec 1838 at St Neots.  Accoring to the censuses he was born in Great Catworth, Huntingdonshire.

According to the 1841 census his parents were Robert and Ann Holmes, living at Church End, Great Catworth. His birth certificate would give you Ann's maiden name.

There is a tree on Ancestry which names Robert's wife as Ann Bugby.

Two baptisms, of Susannah and William on http://freereg.rootsweb.com/

tend to confirm this.   The children were baptised at Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire, but the records state that they are from  Catworth, Hunts, and also provide Ann's maiden name, as well as  the information that Ann's parents are William and Sophia Bugby.

That's great.  I looked for baptisms in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire but not Northamptonshire!
