Lookup please Fife 1851 and 1861 census
« on: Thursday 21 June 12 02:55 BST (UK) »

Hi!,

I am trying to trace a family back through the Fifeshire Cesus records, I have 1841 census already.

The family is David Henderson born 1801 and his wife Magdalene Reid and their children.
They lived in Kettle, Fifeshire, Scotland.

I would like a copy of the 1851 and 1861 household records please.

Could some kind person please copy these census family records records for me.

Thank you from a Kiwi in New Zealand where it is chilly and drizzly at the moment..

Cheers

Chris L. Patterson

Hi!,

Thank you very much for that.

I wonder if you would be able to look up the 1871 and 1881 census records for me too.
I am now wondering how long they lived .

Cheers from a Kiwi in NZ

Hi!,

Thank you so much for all your help .

I also have their christenings as well so thanks.

Seems they were both born lived christened and died around Dunbog, Flisk, Kettle and Balmalcolm. They were married in Kennoway though so I must check out these locations on the map may be I may be able to get back even further.

I have a tentative Richard Henderson( chr in Flisk) and a Isobel Pathrick for his parents from Flisk. and for her (Magdelene Reid)(Chr Falkland) possible parents  James Reid and Isobel Bruce from Falkland.

Cheers A Kiwi from New Zealand

Hi Chris -

I'm pretty sure the 1851 census address is BURNTURK rather than "Burntack" - Burnturk is a farm on the hillside just over a mile east of Kettle village.  "Kettle" is shown on modern maps as "Kingskettle" (don't ask me!) and Balmalcolm is between it and Burnturk.

Have a look at the first edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inches to 1 mile map, surveyed in 1854; it shows every building and all the fences around the individual fields.  The sheet you need is Fife 17.

The National Library of Scotland has a very useful website for looking at the maps online.
