Army Records - DECEASED
« on: Sunday 24 June 12 13:16 BST (UK) »
I know this is going to sound daft, but would there be any reason why a persons Army records has DECEASED stamped on each page - when he was alive and kicking 10 years after being discharged please?

According to the 1911 census though, he was totally blind .. but still breathing !!  I have a William Willington & Harriett (nee Gorsuch) on the 1911 in Storey Street, Caladonian Road, and they are also there on the 1901 census.  He was discharged in 1901 for being medically unfit ....

Could it just have been human error?

Hi

This might be best on the Armed Services Board but I did wonder if Deceased was stamped on the records when he actually died.

Is there any indication when 'deceased' was stamped on the records? (perhaps after he actually did die)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

no, nothing at all - no dates.  I'd thought of that - but then also wondered why they'd go back to his old records to do that ...

Hi

If he was receiving a pension then his Service Records might be part of his Pension Records

Hi T Mo .. he was in the Kings Royal Rifles ... signed up in 1886

It's one of those stamps, not hand written (not that I think that'll matter) :)

Thanks for checking for me ....
