« on: Thursday 28 June 12 12:23 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I couldnt decide whether to put this in here or Flintshire, so apologies if in wrong place.

I have a John Smith b abt 1835 Kings Mill , Flintshire and Elizabeth Jones b abt 1831, Abenbury Vechan  (sp)? Denbighshire.
In 1861 they are living as husband and wife at Abenbury Fechan, Denbighshire,  occ John is Wheelwright

1862 see daughter Louisa Smith born, 1865 Albert Smith is born , 1866 Arthur Smith born, 1870 Adah Smith born,

in 1871 census they are all there at Abenbury Vechan. occ Wheelwright

in 1872 Sarah Anne Elizabeth Smith is born my gt grandmother have birth cert.

in 1881 census Elizabeth is with husband John and Daughter Sarah, no other children occ Wheelwright for John.

Where are the other children in 1881 ???
Albert is in Wrexham Regis as a Servant but the others i cannot find.

in 1891 Elizabeth is with children Arthur, Adah and Sarah, no Husband? at Abenbury Fawr. it does say she is still married.

in 1901 Elizabeth is with son Albert , in Holt St Chad. Albert is Head of house Elizabeth is down as Widow.

in 1911 Elizabeth is living with her daughter in law( Albert's wife )and grandchildren Church street Holt. Widow OAP

now i cant find a marriage for Elizabeth and John, there is one in whitechurch in 1856 got that marriage cert and not correct one.

Cant find Louisa after 1871 and no death either.
Albert marries in 1902 to Mary Esther Chaloner. he dies 1910.
Arthur is Missing in 1881 census, he marries 1896 to Elizabeth Jones
Adah is missing in 1881 and reappears in 1891 but dissapears again.
i have everything else for my gt gran Sarah.

any help would greatly be appricated

I can see no such marriage in any of the places covered by UKBMD.They are both very common names indeed,a search for a John Smith marriage will throw up hundreds!

I still cant find a marriage but ive anaged to track down Adah now, married to a John Matthew Jones quarter master sergeant for royal welsh fusilles ....... they have two daughters Evelyn Elizabeth Jones b 1895 and Winnifred  Martha Jones b 1897.

i cannot find Evelyn on 1901 census, but adah, john and winnifred are there at barracks in Devon,

This is not something I am knowledgeable about so apologies if it is a stupid suggestion, but might they have been married somewhere other than the established church? I have heard mention of "Chapel" when referring to the Welsh. Just an idle thought ...  :-\
Of course another alternative is that they never married, or married after they'd had a couple of children - so you might need to braoden the search date wise ....

i tried the marriage index, that covers registry offices etc and nothing broadend it right through.

I do think they never married, i was hoping that 1911 census gave me some indication but as elizabeth is widow just says that and nothing else

thanks
