John Spencer born abt 1811 in Grindon Warwickshire

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could throw any light on a birth/baptismal date for the above and details of parents etc. I can find out very little. I know from the 1851 census that he was born in Grindon. he died in Willenhall in 1855. He was married to Sarah Hadley in Wolverhampton on 3 December 1831.

Any help would be very gratefully accepted.

There isn't a Grindon in Warks. but there is a Grendon.There's only one baptism there that I can find & that is Hannah in 1800 to Thomas & Elizabeth Spencer.The book for the period you want appears to be missing,it may be still in existance & if it is it will be at War.CRO.
You can email them & ask if they have it for c.1811.

Just be careful doing your searches because although Grendon is in Warwickshire, it used to be in Northamptonshire in John's time.....

What, Grendon near Atherstone in Northants, not 1st April is it?
Grendon Northants is an entirely different village
Grendon, Warwickshire was written as Grindon in some 1600 extracts from the registers that I saw recently - here is the link -
