Be aware that wildcard searching is not available and that due to privacy reasons there are date limitations to searching. By narrowing the search dates you can discover precisely the date of the event you want to find.

The registers are in two sections. The first is an index with patients sorted by the first letter of their surname and their entry number, although determining which year the entry number refers to can be difficult. The patient entries provide name, age, native of, long how in New Zealand, and malady for which they were admitted. Other information may also be provided, such as maiden name.
