Trying to find out when there was a miners strike?

I have infomation that my great grandad fell out of work through a strike between the years 1918 and 1923. It's more than likely it was in ferndale. Can anyone help me with info on when there were strikes? I'd like to confirm what i know. thanks

There was definitely a strike in Ferndale in 1921 - my late grandfather was in it. The following is taken from his obituary in the local paper:-
"Evan John came from Aberdare, and came to the Rhondda at a very early age and was employed for 46 years as a fireman at Nos 2 & 5 Pits.  Well known as a singer, he was a member of the original "Eight Welsh Miners" during the 1921 strike."
I have not been able to find any information on the 8 miners!

Oh what a shame you don't know who were the 8 miners were. I wonder if there is any documentation about the strike in ferndale, an official document somewhere in the archives. that would be interesting reading. My family could well have known yours...do u know the address where they lived?

The Eight Welsh Miners were performing at the Exeter Hippodrome in Feb 1909, and the Hamilton Hippodrome in Dec 1924, see British Newspaper Archive.
