marraige look up - anyone? James Dyson
« on: Saturday 14 July 12 17:19 BST (UK) »
Hi, im trying (unsuccessfullly i might add) to find a marriage between a james dyson b.1796ish in hunslet area of leeds to an Amelia ?  b.1802ish in possibly Ireland (some census' say Clare, Ireland others say Yorkshire). I assume they married round about 1820ish as their first child was born in 1821 (eliza) in hunslet/middleton area of leeds. Ive been banging my head against a brick wall for ages with this now and need help! If anyone can help i'd be so grateful as from their marriage details I may be able to find other snippets of info too ( I live in hope!!!)

If you don't get anywhere, try posting your enquiry over at yorkshire indexers.

Hi

Leeds PR's (Hunslet):
18 May 1796 James s.of James Dyson, bap.

Not sure how helpful this is, not within the date range, perhaps a father/son mix up:
Q1 1853 James Dyson & Amelia Ward, Hunslet, mar. V 9b, P 270.

I haven't looked any further until you see this.

Regards
Geoff

hi yes your on the money with james b1796 baptism i think, the area and date are right. The marraige yoiuve found is for james' son - also james b.1825 m. amelia ward, its his dad and his wife amelia who i cant find a record of, suppose theres always the chance that they werent actually married - one thing ive learnt doing this is that people sometimes dont confirm to the expectations of their era. Anything else you find much appreciated
