Hi and welcome

Just to check - did he die in this country or was he working abroad?

Do you have an approximate birth year for James and did he have a middle name

There are 2 possibilities - born 1901 died London 1947 or born 1908 died 1949 Cheshire

The Cheshire death was James H

Hello Haqer
This is a great website and a good place to start:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Try entering what you already know and see what you can find.
Bear in mind that not everything has been indexed.

I have found this which might get you started:

Births Sep 1939
Moulding  David J
(Mothers maiden name - Whitehouse)
Registered Leicester  7a 509

and:

Marriages Sep 1935
James Moulding (Spouse surname Whitehouse)
Doris Whitehouse (Spouse srname Moulding)
Registered Leicester  7a 814

Come back to RootsChat with as many questions as you like. :)

Hi
Start with F-in-L, David James Moulding: when was he born and what was his Mother's name. Look for the marriage of James Moulding with the Mother and then get the marriage certificate, which will cost £9+ from the GRO or guessing that James was between 20 and 30 when married look at the births index to see if you can find a good match born in Leicester.

Guessing and you need to check all this:
David J Moulding birth registered in Q3 1939 with Mother, Whitehouse., in Leicester
James Moulding and Doris Whitehouse married in Q3 1935 in Leicester.
There were two other Moulding/Whitehouse sons born after David J in Leicester*
There is a James Moulding birth registered in Leicester in Q4 1900 and you can find him with his family in the 1901 census: his Father was a shoe finisher.
Don't accept this as your family unless all the names, localities and dates check out: families have a nasty habit of using similar names in parallel branches.

Good luck

Gobbo

And toastbutler has beaten me to this!

wow what a fantastic response and so quick thank you
i do not have any further details about james moulding (he did marry doris whitehouse) all i know is that he died when my father in law david james moulding was around 10 and i am sure it was in this country, so that would put it at around 1949 so it could be CarolW's second option born 1908 died cheshire 1949. also the shoe finisher one is interesting because one of my father in laws uncles (Len) was a cobbler.
not sure if this is helping or making it more complicated
but thank you again and any more help gratefully accepted

Don't think the 1949 Cheshire death is yours - if you check the probate records on ancestry it gives a Cheshire address for James Henry Moulding, and probate is granted to Florence Emily Moulding, widow

Hi

Maybe worth noting that Leicester was the shoe-making capital.

Stretching too far . . . . . ?
