Hi Mare,

Burial locator for Sarah just says Auckland .... not much help I know.  No sighting that I can see for William...  I see there is a Probate for William at Archives ... death date matches what is on the NZSG Kiwi Index for the Probate.

Thanks for that HP ... I forgot to highlight it but Sarah's age is the only discrepency I could see with the info provided, BDM has it as 68yrs, not 51 yrs, same date of death

Hello...

Don't know the significance (if any) but if you do a BDM NZ Deaths search for Sarah BAXTER using the following dates...

From: 1 Jan 1868 To: 13 Jul 1868

or

From: 15 Jul 1868 To: 31 Dec 1868

you end up with 1868/150 - BAXTER, Sarah - NR

It's only if you include 14 Jul 1868 in the search that you get 1868/2891, and only 1868/2891. There's no sign of 1868/150

To which you'll rightly reply that the 14th July death is the only one you're interested in.

But my understanding was that you couldn't rely on the "Search From" and "Search To" boxes to narrow down dates prior to 1870-ish. So the fact that 1868/2891 can be narrowed to a specific date means something is hinkey.

I thought of duplicate entries with different registration numbers but they're obviously not duplicates as one says "Age 68 years" whereas the other say "Age not recorded".

Don't know if you've any plans on purchasing a death certificate but before you do it may pay to ask BDM NZ if there is a connection between 1868/2891 and 1868/150

Regards
Beg

Thanks, Beg ... that is a curious one as I did narrow down 4 other Baxter deaths to the same date 1868 !!! so did have me wondering ... ie 151 Thirza Ellen, 149 Elizabeth and 148 Andrew. *added, also all NR

I'm not sure whether the family member seeking the info has any certs or not, I offered to put the info 'out there' for any little extras that could be gleaned  :) mare
