Fred Reed
« on: Friday 20 July 12 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Looking for some help please. Fred Reed according to 1911 census was 19 and born in ****** Derby as per attached part image. Not sure what first part says. He is the son of Fred Reed c1868 born Hull and Mary Ann Freeman. His older sister and younger siblings were born in Sheffield. However found father/mother and 2 children in 1901 but no Fred/Frederick. Looking for suitable birth ref, 1901 census location and interpretation of scan if possible.

Thanks

John

Could it be Belper on the census? It looks like Beichor on the census. There is a Frederick Reed  June 1891  registerd at Belper 7b 618

Thanks Candleflame, having trouble attaching but you have found the right image. My problem here is that it's certain that Fred's parents are Fred born c1868  Hull and Mary Ann Freeman born Sheffield. 2 A***ty trees show Fred seniors father to be an Enoch Reed/Hannah Hall but I am sceptic of this fact. Fred married Mary Ann Freeman 1888 Sheffield. I know I could purchase this marriage cert for fathers details but like all good rc's want to save money if possible. Any more contributions welcome.

John

Well spotted Keyboard.  :)That 1891 reference on Ancestry shows in the index as Howe, but the census shows them as lodging with the Howes but clearly shows their surname as Reed. The Emma A you refer to looks like Emma E on the census and there is a birth of an Emma Elizabeth in Mar 1891 at Ecclesall B 9c 328 ( ie Ecclesall Bierlow which spans the counties of derby and west yorkshire but close to Nether Hallam so perhaps the Beichor ( looks like on 1911) was Bierlow?? or is that too much of a leap ;D

There is a death of an Emma Elizabeth Reed in the same reg distict in December 1896, age 6 years Ecclesall B 9c 217.

The Mary A is clearly shown as a 'wife' but no sign of Fred, the husband.
