Voice to text software **completed**
« on: Friday 03 August 12 03:25 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have an knowledge of this software..lots available but what is best.

Ideally it needs to be used to transcribe oral history recordings.
I'm wondering how we could use it..If we have a mp3 recording/Cd would it be able to transcribe?
Would I have to be listening and then read back what I am hearing..to get a voice to text transcription..

Need help, it takes too long to listen and then type up transcriptions for a non-specialist typist!!!

Many thanks
Althea

Hi Althea,

There was a thread on this board about this just a few days ago - see

Whatever software you choose you will have to spend lots of time going through editing the text, especially names and places which computers find particularly difficult to understand. If it were me I would stick with the typing, to ensure you get the result you intended, but that's just my opinion.
