Willesden Workhouse (Twyford Lodge) 1911
« on: Sunday 05 August 12 14:17 BST (UK) »
Help please, can any one help me regarding my fathers birth 31 March 1911 in Willesden Workhouse. The 1911 census shows Kate Norman 30 yrs and Patrick James Norman 0 yrs as inmates.
Kate and my father returned to the Norman family home in Lingfeild Surrey, but I would like to Know who was my fathers father was. I can not find any bastardy records or poor law records that would name the father.
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
Thanking you in advance.
Michael David Norman ???

Many thanks Diddy for reply, yes I do have birth cert, but only shows mother, no father, hence the birth at Willesden Workhouse.

Hi

Your grandmother, Kate, was previously a servant in "The Moon" and seems to be Kate Amelia and Kate Ann?
? Parents Joseph/Isobelle ?

Elsewhere you mention a possible sister, Hilda, to your father.
Hilda staying with the Tourand(?) family. Are they related?

How did you make the connection Patrick - Hilda?

Regards
Ray

Hi Ray,thanks for reply,Kate Amelia Norman B 1881 Lingfield Surrey.
That is very interesting, she was as far as I know a Domesic Servant working in Willesden. In 1911 she gave birth to my father Patrick James Norman in Willesden Workhouse. I think the connection Patrick -  Hilda may be from Kates marriage later to George Ottaway. I do beleive Kate gave birth to 2 other children one which was Hilda.
Ray I hope we are refering to Kate Amelia Norman, because there is also Amelia Norman but she was born 1891 approx also from Lingfeild Surrey.
Can you tell me more about the "Moon".
Let me know Ray if you would like to email me direct
Best regards
Michael Norman

Hi

George W OTWAY? Not Ottoway?

There seems to be 7 Otway/Norman births in Brighton 1912-1925

Hi

1901, I searched for Kate Amelia Norman b1881 Surrey
. . . .  first result is Kate Amelia at The Moon/r in Lingfield.

I don't see any clues at the address of 228 Walm Lane

Other trees show your grandparents as Borer / Kate Susannah ?
Where have you sourced all of your information?
What documents/actual evidence do you have?

Hi Ray,

yes have full birth certs for Kate, and Amelia, and Susannah.

Have marriage cert for Kate Sussanah Norman/Johnathan Borer June 6 1891.

Do you have /use FTM 2012, if so full details are available on my family website "The Norman family"

Hi Ray,

Seems  the 1901 census RG 13/632 refers to "The Moor" which relates to the area of Moor Lane and Moor Farm. The census refers to Ellen M Burgoyne, her two sisters, a Gertrude Maud Drummond, and Kate Amelia Norman age 20yrs.I can't get any further info on this place, was it a house?, a home?.a church residence? I'm drawing a blank.
Regards Mike
