Charlotte Marshall/John Timms
« on: Wednesday 08 August 12 10:01 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Charlotte Marshall born circa 1835 in Hereford (according to census).  She married in Warwickshire 21.12.1852 to John Timms from London also born circa of 1835.  Father's name given as Charles Marshall.

Besides her birth I need to locate the 1841 & 1851 census any help would be much appreciated.  Also the baptism and 1841 & 1851 census for John Timms .

I only got the details off the LDS which only gave the father's names as Charles Marshall and James Timms.

I wonder where her mother is  - their is an Elizah with son John 6mths in Chipping Warden that could be her.

You were after Charlotte bn Hereford - her marriage to John Timms is in the Banbury registration district that covers Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire including Chipping Warden.  :-\

I see your John and Charlotte are in Salford in 1881 and 1891 all children bn Hereford.
I presume you have a birth cert confirming Charlottes maiden name.

Hello Rosie,

I have only just found that Charlotte Marshall was my great great grandmother and that she said she was born in Hereford and her husband John Timms was born in London as per the 1881 census.  James their son born in Hereford 1858 is my great grandfather, through their daughter Annie Gertrude Timms born 16.01.1883.  It was always said she was from Salford Lancashire but although all her siblings were born in Salford she was born in Worcester Warwickshire.  I remember my mother having difficulty getting her mother her pension because I have now found that she wasn't registered until  June quarter 1886 at Shipston.  According to the 1891 census she was 8years old living in Salford.

Thanks for the census is Chipping Warden in Hereford?  I don't know where her mother could be or what her name was.

My great grandmother Isabella died in 1900 leaving 5 children one of which Isabella being  born in 1897.  I have found James Timms circa1858 in Salford with three of his children George, John and Thomas, but my grandmother Annie was supposedly a laundress in service but were the 3 year old Isabella is is a mystery as have been unable to locate the 1901 census.  I know when I was little being told about Aunty Bella who lived in Nottingham somewhere.  Grandma Annie returns as Housekeeper to John Forshaw on the 1911 census who was my mother Ethel 30.04.1910 father.

Thanks again for your help

Eileen

Hi Eileen

Chipping Warden is in Northamptonshire, that is what's worrying me.  :-\

I can't see a Charlotte Marshall bn Hereford in 1841/51 and I can't see the family before 1881.

Sorry got to stop for tonight, hope someone can spot something I have missed.

Thanks for that Rosie,

I haven't got a birth certificate. Only I put John Timms on the FreeBMD search spelt Tims marrying a Charlotte and the one that came up was December 1852 at Banbury says he married Charlotte Marshall which would mean they were only 17. There was another one in Norwich which was a year earlier to a Charlotte Wilson.

I have just checked the BMD again and James was registered at Hereford in June quarter of 1858 anyone know how to obtain cheap certs at £10.50 each it's a bit pricey.
